On Wednesday 27th October 2021, St John of God Foundation CEO Bianca Pietralla hosted An Evening to Celebrate Philanthropy, an event honouring supporters of St John of God Health Care.
Taking place at the recently reopened WA Museum Boola Bardip, the event brought together donors, advocates and caregivers, who also had the opportunity to hear stories from individuals who have personally experienced the life-changing difference that philanthropy can make.
Grateful patient Helen Parry kindly shared her experience of undergoing breast cancer treatment. "The outcome has been so good that I just can’t speak highly enough of it, and I can’t thank the donors enough for their generosity.”
Helen was one of the first patients to receive treatment with the innovative donor-funded Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) equipment, which reduced her treatment time from up to six weeks down to a single day.
Guests also heard from Chris Chalwell, who spoke of the comfort and connection that he and his wife Janine experienced during her end-of-life care, by accessing a donor-funded Cuddle Bed.
Foundation Board Chair, Tony Howarth AO, recognised the immense impact of supporters transforming the future of health care.
Event attendees were invited to enjoy private curated tours of the Museum’s Connections exhibition, as well as refreshments and live contemporary string music by Dolce Ensembles.
